Study Notes
The focus this week is to explore the application of the conceptual, action, and research tools of community psychology to social and economic inequalities and discrimination associated with disability and ableism in domestic and global contexts.
Nelson & Prilleltensky (2010), in Chapters 20 & 21, explore the nature and basis of inequities and discrimination related to disability and ableism; the role of community psychologists in addressing inequality and discrimination relevant to disability and ableism; and the application of research and intervention tools in community psychology to addressing these issues.
Consider ways in which you as a future community psychologist might apply action and research tools to address issues related to disability and ableism within a global context. How might you use intervention and research to facilitate liberation, well-being, and recovery in the context of specific examples of disability?
Discussion
Describe the application of community psychology action and research tools to address issues related to disability and ableism within a global context.
